Developing the Green Economy in Ireland

The green economy can make a significant contribution to Irelands economy by creating employment and export opportunities in areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency and consultancy, waste management, recovery and recycling, and water and wastewater treatment. The High-Level Group on Green Enterprise was mandated to identify areas where Ireland could succeed in the green economy and was charged with identifying key road blockages for the green economy and ways to overcome these. Jonathan Healy will set out a strategy for Ireland to capture the oppertunities identified in the report.

About the speaker: Jonathan Healy is an environmental economist educated at University College Dublin (UCD) where he received BA, MSc and PhD degrees in economics. He is currently a Senior Policy Analyst in the National Competitiveness, Sustainability and Infrastructure Department in Forfás with responsibility for environmental and infrastructural policy and a Research Associate of the Policy Institute, Trinity College Dublin (TCD).
